Epidural Steroid Injection (ESI)

Epidural Steroid Injection (ESI)

The purpose of the ESI treatment is to help relieve the debilitating pain from inflamed spinal nerves that is caused by spinal stenosis or disc herniation. Orthobiologics Associates understands that persistent pain can affect your daily activities, which is why we offer this treatment as a short-term solution to your chronic pain and damage.

Guided by X-ray and/or ultrasound, the provider precisely injects a steroid that includes both a corticosteroid and an anesthetic numbing agent. This injection is delivered into the epidural space of the spine, which is the area between the bony vertebra and the protective dura sac surrounding the spinal nerves and cord.

Corticosteroid injections can effectively reduce inflammation when delivered directly into the painful area. This treatment lasts anywhere from days to months and will allow you relief until we can provide you with a long-term solution to your chronic pain and damage.
